Wall Street 2.0
20th Century Fox has announced that it will be filming a sequel to 1987 cult classic Wall Street. The movie spawned lines that even today are quoted by stockbrokers and Investment Firms: lunch is for wimps and or course “Greed is Good”.
It’s sad they didn’t make the sequel in the late 90s. Gordon Gekko would have made a killing in Web 1.0 stocks. Fast forward a decade and the age of the IPO and inflated share price has passed, replaced in favor of the corporate buyout.
Reports state that in the movie, Gekko, having been released from jail, is now working in the hedge fund business.
Hedge funds do many things and not all of them are evil: hedge funds can be found in the background of funded companies throughout Web 2.0, but I couldn’t help but immediately think of Patent Trolling. Will Gordon Gekko buy a raft of patents, bringing his control over a range of Web 2.0 technologies to bare on a helpless Silicon Valley?
If Gordon Gekko in the Wall Street sequel was to focus on tech stocks and Valley startups, what could you see him doing aside from the obvious: abolishing free lunches and Segways at Google?

"God of War II" tops March U.S. video game chart
The Greek mythology-inspired action adventure game sold 833,000 units at retail. That is more than double the unit sales of the second-best selling game, "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" from Ubisoft Entertainment (UBIP.PA).
Activision Inc.'s (Nasdaq:ATVI - news) "Guitar Hero II" came in at No. 3. "Ghost Recon" and "Guitar Hero" are for Microsoft Corp.'s (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) Xbox 360.
Rounding out the top five were Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s (7974.OS) "Wii Play" for its Wii new console and Sony's "Motorstorm" for its new PlayStation 3.

MySpace TrailerPark: Dedicated Movie Trailer Site
I got a chuckle this morning when I saw an email from MySpace that they were launching a new service called “TrailerPark” (I thought perhaps they were targeting an underserved demographic for membership expansion). But their new service has nothing to do with that. Instead, it’s a dedicated site for movie trailers. The service is run through MySpace Video.
Trailers can be found on various websites, but having an easy place to browse and embed them is great. Apple’s is actually one of the best - they include options to download to an iPod or in High Definition format. Other good sites for movie trailers include Yahoo Movies
, IMDB
, Movie List
, iKlipz
and the Movie Trailers Blog
. YouTube also has many movie trailers, although there is no permanent category for them.
It would be good if MySpace also showed relevant data about the movie as well, such as release date, actors, etc. No word from them if they plan to do that in the future.

Entertainment : 300 Review
300 is a visual miracle of modern movie making, and a stunning looking film that makes up for every ounce of its lack of plot by painting a brilliantly beautiful image over every single frame of the film. How’s that for a run on sentence?
In short…This flick Rocks.
The primary draw of this film is the visual beauty of it…and beauty is a strange word to use here because some of the images in the film are truly horrific and disturbing…but beautiful none the less.
Director Zack Snider took the work of Frank Miller and smeared it all over the big screen with just as much tenacity and love of the source material as Robert Rodriguez did with Sin City. If you’re a fan of Frank Miller’s work (which I am, although I have never read 300), his style and look are all over this film. I don’t say that to suggest that the creators simply copied Miller’s work, because they most certainly did not. They took Frank Miller’s concept and general style and created and entirely new work of art that is truly unlike any film that has come before it in many respects.
Like the greatest action films of the past, 300 doesn’t let too much plot get in the way of the gory and violent action filled scenes that are the meat and potatoes of this flick. If you’re going to this movie looking for a film that will make you think, make you weep, and make you question the world around you…go to an art house theatre, and leave this movie alone. 300 knows what it is, and very clearly shows you what to expect when you watch the trailer. You’re not getting much more than the trailer promises, but it certainly lives up to hype those fantastic previews promised.
I saw this film with two old friends, and each of us enjoyed the movie for what it was…we didn’t go in expecting Shakespeare, and we came out having watched a bloody, savage, completely engrossing fist fight of a movie.
If you like action, you’re going to love this movie. If you marvel at stunning visuals on film, you’re going to love this movie. If you have ever wanted to just get up and whoop some ass you will love this movie. You will find yourself living vicariously through these characters, and ready to fight an army of uncountable proportions when you walk out of the theater.
I enjoyed the heck out of this movie today, and I’m going to see it again next week…this time in an Imax. I can’t wait…
